About Evergreen
Evergreen (population 9,307 in 2020) is a mountain community in Jefferson County, about 30 miles west of downtown Denver in the foothills — a census-designated place, not an incorporated town. Settled in the 1860s as a ranching and logging outpost, it grew into an exurb of large wooded lots around Evergreen Lake and Bear Creek. Downtown Evergreen keeps a village main street (shown in the Commons photos below), and the area is rich in open space: Elk Meadow Park's elk herd, Alderfer/Three Sisters Park, and the Evergreen Lake House concert venue. The Little Bear Saloon is a local landmark.
