About Littleton
Littleton (population 45,652 in 2020) is a historic south-metro suburb in Arapahoe, Jefferson, and Douglas counties, centered on the South Platte River about 10 miles south of downtown Denver. Founded during the 1859 gold rush and named for surveyor-engineer Richard Sullivan Little, it kept its small-town Main Street downtown even as suburbs grew around it. The city is known for the Littleton Museum's living-history farm, Hudson Gardens' 30 acres of gardens and concerts, and the 880-acre Chatfield-area open space at its edge. Littleton Public Schools is one of Colorado's highest-rated districts.
