About Morrison
Morrison (population 396 in 2020) is a tiny historic town in Jefferson County, about 15 miles southwest of downtown Denver at the mouth of Bear Creek Canyon. Founded in 1874 and named for developer George Morrison, it is best known as the gateway to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre — the world-famous concert venue carved between 300-foot red sandstone monoliths, with a Morrison mailing address. Dinosaur Ridge's fossil tracks and the town's preserved 19th-century main street (on the Lariat Loop byway) complete the picture. Tiny as it is, Morrison punches far above its weight as a tourist destination.
