About Hazlehurst
Hazlehurst is the county seat of Copiah County, about 35 miles south of Jackson on I-55, with roughly 3,600 residents. It rose to prominence in the 1860s as a station on the New Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern Railroad, received its charter in 1865, and became county seat in 1872.
