About Raymond
Raymond is the historic county seat of Hinds County (one of two seats, with Jackson), a small Civil War–era city about 15 miles southwest of Jackson. Chartered December 15, 1830, after commissioners chose a ridge near the county's center, it grew into a prosperous small town on the Natchez Trace.
