Sebastopol is a small town (~500 residents) on the northeastern edge of the MSA, straddling Scott and Leake counties. Originally called Hathaway Springs, it existed before the Civil War but wasn't incorporated until 1917 — and per local oral tradition, a traveling "Swede" gave it the name of Sevastopol, Crimea.
