About Council Bluffs
Council Bluffs is a city of about 62,800 people (2020 Census: 62,799) in Pottawattamie County, Iowa — the anchor city of the Iowa side of the Omaha–Council Bluffs metro, directly across the Missouri River from Omaha. Founded as Kanesville in 1846 and renamed for the Lewis and Clark council with the Otoe tribe, it was the eastern terminus of the transcontinental railroad.
