About Oak Hill
Oak Hill (~2,014 residents, 2020 Census; ~2,223 estimated 2026, per worldpopulationreview.com, read September 24, 2026) is a small Old Florida fishing town in southeast Volusia County on US-1, about ten miles south of New Smyrna Beach. It borders the north end of Mosquito Lagoon — part of the Indian River Lagoon system and one of the Northern Hemisphere's most biodiverse estuaries — and is known as the gateway to world-class redfish and trout flats fishing. With a single blinking light, fish camps, and the Seminole Rest historic site, it is one of the metro's most rural, laid-back communities.
