Glastonbury is a long-settled town of about 35,200 on the east bank of the Connecticut River, 7 miles southeast of Hartford. Founded 1693 (settled 1636), it blends a Main Street town center with hillside subdivisions, orchards, and berry farms that continue its agricultural tradition.
