About Donna
Donna (pop. 16,797 in the 2020 census) is a historic farm town on the east side of the metro — its 1916 streetscape (shown in the Commons photo below) dates to the Valley's railroad-and-irrigation boom. At one point the Donna school district encompassed all of Weslaco and reached the Mercedes city line. Winter Texans and citrus farming remain part of the local economy.
