About Hindsville
Hindsville is a tiny town (90 residents at the 2020 census) in Madison County, named for first settler John Hinds. In 2007, U.S. Highway 412 was widened to four lanes and now bypasses the town completely — 19 miles west to Springdale and 9 miles southeast to Huntsville, the county seat. Nearby Hindsville Lake (3 miles west) is one of Arkansas's oldest reservoirs — the first built by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (construction completed March 1950); it was drained in 2007 for dam repairs (per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026).
