About Lincoln

Lincoln is a city of 2,294 (2020 census; estimated 2,370 in 2025) in western Washington County, about 25 miles southwest of Fayetteville and 8 miles from the Oklahoma border — nicknamed the "Apple Capital of Arkansas." First known as Blackjack, the town got its name almost by accident: "Georgetown" was rejected by the post office, so founder Joseph Carter submitted "Lincoln," claiming he "saw it on a box." Incorporated in 1907 with the Frisco railroad's arrival, it's the setting of the Oscar-winning film Minari and hosts the Arkansas Apple Festival every October (per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026).
